Another week, another incredible opportunity to photograph for an organization that is near and dear. The Oregon Humane Society hosted their annual Diamond Collar Awards fundraiser last week at the Governor Hotel, to celebrate and honor pet and people heroes. There were many touching stories of people saving pets and pets saving their people, and if you didn’t cry at least once during the presentation, you were in need of a pulse check.

Last week I had the honor of photographing an event on behalf of some of Portland’s most talented editorial and commercial shooters. This last year, Brian Lee, Daniel Root, Lincoln Barbour, Steven Scardina + Stuart Mullenberg formed a photo collective called PhotoForce in order to help local companies and non-profits share their stories. Their first exhibit, ‘Setting the Table’ highlighted images they took on behalf of Oregon Food Bank that document the farm to table process and help raise awareness and support for OFB. Oregon Food Bank coordinates food distribution with 935 agencies around the state of Oregon and saw an increase of 14% in emergency food box distribution this last year…that would be an additional 100,000 + boxes. Needless to say, their need for support right now is great, so if you didn’t make it to the event, and you’re so inclined, please feel free to make contributions big and small through the OFB website.
I’m very grateful to the boys of PhotoForce for the opoortunity to document their evening and their work.
